Batter Up!
The closest thing to baseball and softball is here! Wiffle ball is about to be under way. Get your swings, base running, throwing, and catching down. This may be Wiffle ball, but it is also a competitive and fun game. So Swing Batter Batter Swing!
This season should be just as exciting as the last one. Wiffe balls flying left and right, amazing catches, and great strategies being thought of. There is always someone that will wiff hitting the wiffle ball, just because it takes funny turns in the air. We all know that's pretty funny. Don't miss out, and play some Wiffle ball!
Functioning Champion Alcoballics!
Playoffs were in the air as the first Wiffleball champion would be crowned. Alcoballics came into the week with the top seed and looking to raise that championship banner. They faced off against a streaking Wiffle While You Twerk. After some defensive shut downs for both sides, Wiffle While You Twerk took a commanding 3-0 lead. Alcobalics would answer, but WWYT would still maintain a run run lead. In the last inning, they added two more runs to take a three run lead, but with some composure and heads up base-running, they overcame the deficit and added four runs to punch their ticket to the finals.
In the chapionship game, Alcoballics faced off against the Take a Wiffle My Balls Team. During the regular season, both teams earned a win against each other. After two tough semifinal matches for both, we would see if fatigue was a factor. The winning factor became defense in the championship game. A few missteps early by TWMB led to an early Alcoballics lead of 6-0. Then the Alcoballics decided to shut down the scoring with strong defense. Every catch was there and every throw on target. Any other day, this game would have been much closer. As they say, defense wins championships and it did. Alcoballics were then crowned as the first Lonestarssc Wiffleball Champions and given a great bar tab at Tailgaters Sports Bar & Grill to celebrate. Wiffle And Do What?
Wiffle While You Twerk came into this week looking for their first win of the season against the strong Alcoballics team. Wiffle While You Twerk is a individual team that has come together to become a solid team. Even being short handed for most of the season they have played with positive attitude and some skill on the field.
All season they have played very close games and just could not find a way to win, but WWYT got their first victory over the Alcoballics with some great hits and base running. Alcoballics did add a late game run, but could not come back from the large WWYT lead. The hard working WWYT earned the celebratory pitcher and was able to enjoy themselves at Tailgaters!
What Is A Wifflepoof?
The Wifflepoofs came in ready for redemption after a close loss last week. The team captain paid off a few people that he knows at SoleRole and made sure some netting had some extra holes in them. What he failed to remember is that those advantages for the the Wifflepoofs also helped the the team Wiffle While You Twerk!.
Wiffle While You Twerk came in looking to score and upset the Wifflepoofs. The gold Wifflepoofs started out strong. Wiffle While You Twerk went up with a big-run inning and to take a 5-run lead. The WPs got some of those runs back after a solo home run and some other run support to tie the game. Both teams battled and it was tied going into the last inning. Wifflepoofs added 4 runs to force the WWYT team to step up to the plate. They did, but the WPs defense shut them down to only the two runs and earned the victory and the celebratory pitcher at Tailgaters!
Pink Power!
The Alcoballics came into the night ready to remain undefeated on the idle all field tonight. They faced off against the powerful Wifflepoof team who was also undefeated. The Alcoballics took the early lead off some solid hitting, but a Wifflepoofs home run gave them the advantage.
The Wifflepoof remained in the lead, but the Alcoballics rallied with pink power and had some solid hits and speedy base running to take the lead and the victory 7-6. The Alcoballics then went to Tailgaters for their celebratory pitcher and toasted to a win and remaining undefeated. Watch out, every game has been close and who knows who will challenge them in the inaugural all season of Wiffleball!

Welcome to the Winter 2015 Winter Wiffleball season! This is the inaugural season of wiffleball here at LoneStar Sports & Social Club! Teams have been set, schedules have been made, umps have been paid off, replay system was voted against in winter meetings, Alex Rodriquez is also banned from this league, and we are ready to start the season and see who will be the first champions of the first ever wiffleball league!
Schedules have been posted! The fix is in and the front runner of the league is a team called The Wifflepoofs. Interviewing the manager of the Wifflepoofs, it sounds like there may be a few corked bats, some bribing of the umps with some adult beverages at Tailgaters, the official post game happy hour each week with $3 SoCo and $8 pitchers. Make plans to join us each week as we bring in this new league, new season, and new fun on Monday nights!
